Marco Reus, a forward for Borussia Dortmund, will depart the team at the end of the current campaign when his contract ends.
During his 424 club appearances since joining from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012, the German has scored 168 goals.
When his contract expires in July, the 34-year-old, who spent nine years at the club during his youth before departing for Monchengladbach, will become a free agent.
“I have spent more than half of my life at this club and enjoyed every day,” Reus stated.
“I will find it difficult to say goodbye at the end of the season.”
During his tenure at the club, Reus has won the DFB-Pokal championship twice. He led the team in their most recent triumph in 2021.
Dortmund leads Paris St-Germain 1-0 overall heading into the second leg of their Champions League semifinal later next week.
Reus was a member of Dortmund’s team that lost the 2013 Champions League final in London to rival Bayern Munich.
