According to reports, Chelsea is in the process of making a massive €55 million (£47 million) bid to sign Estevao, a 17-year-old winger for Palmeiras.
The European elite have long been interested in the youth, who is widely known by the nickname “Messinho,” which he is eager to shed. Despite Paris Saint-Germain’s failure to recruit both Estevao and Endrick in a high-profile deal, the latter was able to clinch a move to Real Madrid.
Estevao is reportedly attractive to Madrid as well, although the winger has stated in the open that he wants to play for Barcelona in the future.
But according to UOL, Chelsea is putting up the most pressure to get Estevao, as the Blues are preparing a £47 million offer for the young player.
Chelsea’s most recent offer, which includes an initial £26 million payment plus an additional £21 million in add-ons, is said to be the sum of their two previous bids for Estevao being turned down.
Excitement levels around Estevao are incredibly high and a number of Blues fans recently enjoyed the opportunity to watch him line up opposite 16-year-old Kendry Paez, for whom a £17m deal has already been agreed to sign him from Independiente del Valle in 2025.
Signing the game’s top young talents has been a key ambition for Chelsea’s owners, who have spent huge sums on the likes of Paez, Cesare Casadei and Deivid Washington with a view to building an elite squad for the next decade.
But Chelsea’s extravagant expenditure has sparked claims of breaking the Profit and Sustainability Rules. 90min is aware that the Blues have always felt certain they won’t face any penalties, and new financial records seemed to indicate that the £76.5 million sale of two hotels to the current owners’ sibling firm had improved accounts.
