They look really hard to beat” – Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney names club that impressed him the most in Premier League this season

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has been the most impressed by Arne Slot’s Liverpool this season in the Premier League. He believes the Reds look incredibly hard to beat despite Jurgen Klopp’s departure this summer.

Speaking on The Overlap, Rooney heaped praise on Arne Slot for taking Liverpool to the top of the league table. He believes that the Dutchman has handled the pressure of replacing Klopp well. He said (via Sporting News):

“I would go Liverpool. The manager coming in after Klopp was obviously under big pressure, but they look more solid. I think they look really hard to beat.”

Gary Neville was also full of praise for the Reds and said that everyone in the defense, including goalkeeper Alisson, has been solid. He said:

“The back five has played together for a long time. With Alisson behind that defense, it does feel solid.”

Liverpool are currently on top of the Premier League table – a point ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal. They next face Chelsea in the league but will be without Alisson until mid-November as the goalkeeper suffered a hamstring injury against Crystal Palace.

Wayne Rooney comments on Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United

Wayne Rooney hopes Manchester United stick with manager Erik ten Hag and the Dutchman turns things around at the club. He also believes that bringing in a new manager will set the club on the path of rebuilding yet again. He opined (via Tribal Football):

“Well that’s obviously down to the owners of the football club to look at that. I’m sure Erik Ten Hag is a fantastic manager. He’s won trophies wherever he’s been and won trophies at Manchester United as well. So yes, he’s going through a difficult period and I think he’d probably say that himself. But you hope he can turn it around because too often managers lose their jobs and then it’s another rebuild with a different manager.”

“I think it’s difficult and anyone would admit that Manchester United want to be challenging for titles, so to be 14th, I’m sure everyone at the club knows they need to improve on that. I know Erik Ten Hag is doing everything he can to try and improve that. Players again, and I said this last season, need to do better than what they’re doing. There’s a big turnaround of players over the last few years. You just want to see them challenging again,” he added.

Manchester United are currently 14th in the league table, with just two wins in seven matches. They have struggled in the Europa League as well, with two draws so far in two games. But they did manage to beat Barnsley handsomely in the Carabao Cup.
