Menendez Brothers’ Resentencing Hearing Is Delayed, They Won’t Be Home for the Holidays

The Menendez brothers, Erik and Lyle, are still serving life sentences without parole, but their legal team is pushing for their release. During a recent status hearing, they argued that new evidence not presented during their original trials supports their claim of being sexually abused by their father before the killings. This new evidence includes a 1988 letter from Erik to his cousin, which appears to support their abuse claims, and a declaration from former Menudo member Roy Rossello, who alleges he was also abused by their father.

The brothers’ legal team is seeking resentencing, potentially leading to parole or clemency, while the Los Angeles County District Attorney, George Gascón, has expressed support for making them eligible for parole. A future hearing was initially set for December 11 but has been pushed to January 30-31, 2025.
