Nelly was arrested early Wednesday morning (August 7) in St Charles, Mo.
The 49-year-old rapper was arrested inside the Hollywood Casino and booked by the Missouri State Highway Patrol on a drug possession charge, according to Page Six.
However, after running a background check, they also found he had a warrant out.

Nelly‘s arrest reportedly came after an ID verification at the casino, which, according to the NY Post, is “occasionally done in Missouri casinos in accordance with the state’s gaming commission regulations.”
The ID check found that Nelly had a warrant from a previous traffic stop for lack of insurance, which led to his arrest.
The rapper was then also charged with possession of a controlled substance after officers found ecstasy pills on him while searching him, and he was also charged with the driving without insurance.
His mugshot was taken and he was later released. The Post also reports that he has not yet been formally charged with anything, and it will be up to the prosecutors to charge him after the paperwork is filed.
Nelly‘s arrest comes nearly two months after it was reported he and Ashanti secretly got married at the end of 2023. Earlier this year, Ashanti also revealed she was pregnant with their first child!
