The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is set to bring back some events that haven’t been included in the Games in decades. It’ll also add some new sports to the mix. However, breakdancing will not be on the menu.
The sport, also known as breaking, made its debut at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Athletes such as Rachel Gunn, aka Raygun, went viral after showing off their stuff at the event.
However, organizers for the Los Angeles Games decided not to bring it back for a second year. In fact, they made the decision well before the 2024 Games even took place.

According to reporting by People, it was announced all the way back in 2023 that breakdancers would not be competing for Gold Medals in Los Angeles.
IOC Sports Director Kit McConnell explained that each city hosting the Games is able to decide on the final lineup of events.
While we won’t see breakdancing on the main stage in 2028, there is always a chance that it can return in the future.
In fact, the Los Angeles Olympics will resurrect lacrosse, cricket, baseball and softball after an extended absence. It will also introduce flag football and squash.
