Barcelona Sack Xavi
Xavi’s two-year tenure as Barcelona coach ends after their last LaLiga game of the 2023-24 season. Despite leading the team to a LaLiga title in his first full season, Barcelona trails Real Madrid by 12 points and suffered a Champions League exit in the quarter-finals to Paris Saint-Germain.
Initially planning to step down in January due to poor form, Xavi opted to stay in April after improved results, but Barcelona has now confirmed his departure, despite his contract running until 2025.
In a statement, Barcelona thanked Xavi for his contributions and announced his final game as coach this Sunday in Seville. Hansi Flick is rumored to replace him, with confirmation expected after the season’s end.
