Dani Olmo to make his Barcelona debut

Dani Olmo could be just days away from stepping onto the pitch in a Barcelona shirt for the first time in a decade, with a €62 million transfer from RB Leipzig nearing completion.

Barcelona have agreed to a deal with the Bundesliga club, starting at €55 million, to re-sign Olmo, who left La Masia at 16 in search of first-team opportunities in Croatia. Personal terms have been easily settled on a six-year contract running until 2030.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona officials were finalizing the last details of the transfer on Thursday morning, aiming to officially present Olmo at a press conference on Friday. During the event, Olmo will pose for photos and address the media.

Olmo’s unofficial debut is expected to come in a friendly match against Monaco, this year’s invited opponents. If all goes smoothly, his competitive debut for Barcelona could take place just five days later when they face Valencia in their La Liga opener.

Meanwhile, it remains uncertain whether Barcelona can secure Nico Williams before the summer transfer window closes. Rumors suggest that club president Joan Laporta has taken a personal interest in negotiations with the Euro 2024-winning winger, though Williams seems more likely to stay with Athletic Club.

Speculation is growing that Barcelona is close to complying with La Liga’s financial regulations and returning to 1:1 spending rules, which would be a significant boost. However, doubts remain among some observers.
