Disney’s new animated musical Moana 2 has officially hit theaters, delighting fans who’ve been waiting for a sequel to the beloved 2016 film. Originally planned as a Disney+ series, the project evolved into a theatrical feature, bringing Moana and her adventures back to the big screen.
Should You Stay for the Credits?
Yes, you should stick around for a mid-credits scene, as it hints at a potential Moana 3! However, there is no post-credits scene at the very end of the roll.
What Happens in the Mid-Credits Scene? (Spoilers)
In the mid-credits scene:
- Matangi, the bat-like helper who plays a pivotal role in Moana 2, visits Nalo (the sequel’s main antagonist) in their human-like form. Matangi pleads for freedom, but Nalo refuses, ominously saying, “We’re just getting started.”
- Mid-monologue, they’re hilariously interrupted by Tamatoa, the shiny crab villain from the first film, voiced by Jemaine Clement. Tamatoa suggests teaming up with Nalo to take down their common enemy, Moana, teasing a larger conflict in a potential third installment.
Tease for the Future: Zootopia 2
At the very end of the credits, an image of a snake is shown, seemingly teasing Zootopia 2, Disney’s next animated feature, slated for release in 2025.
Fans of Moana and Zootopia have plenty to be excited about with these sequels expanding their beloved universes. And if you’re a fan of bonus scenes, don’t miss this one!
