Jordan Chiles Stripped of Bronze Medal After Paris Olympics 2024 Win – Find Out Why & See Her Response

Jordan Chiles has been stripped of the bronze medal that she just won in the women’s floor final at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The International Gymnastics Federation confirmed Romania’s Ana Barbosu has been upped from fourth to third place because of a ruling made by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, via BBC.

The Romanian Olympic Committee had appealed an inquiry submitted by the US team about Jordan‘s score, which fell outside the 1 minute limit for appeals.

Jordan‘s original score was reinstated, which pushed the 23-year-old Olympian back into fifth place.

If you didn’t know, Jordan scored 13.666 during her final, originally putting her in fifth place. Ana Barbosu scored 13.7, which made her believe she won bronze. Jordan‘s coach Cecile Landi made an inquiry regarding her difficulty rating, and officials raised Jordan‘s score to 13.766, placing her third.

Ana was already celebrating her medal, and became upset, leading to a protest from the Romanian team.

The Romanian Olympic Committee successfully appealed that the inquiry was “untimely,” as it was submitted four seconds after the one minute time limit.

The International Olympic Committee said it will reallocate the bronze medal to the Romanian Olympian, and is in touch with the US team regarding the return of the medal.

USA Gymnastics and the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee issued a statement: “The inquiry into the difficulty value of Jordan Chiles‘ floor exercise routine was filed in good faith and, we believed, in accordance with Fig rules to ensure accurate scoring.”

“No athlete should be subject to such treatment. We condemn the attacks and those who engage, support or instigate them. We commend Jordan for conducting herself with integrity both on and off the competition floor, and we continue to stand by and support her.”

In response, Jordan posted four broken heart emojis on her Instagram story and wrote: “I am taking this time and removing myself from social media for my mental health, thank you.”

Simone Biles won silver in the event, with Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade taking gold, leading to an iconic moment of the Games where the two Americans bowed down to the Brazilian winner on the all-Black podium. See the photos.
