Leicester agree fee ‘in excess of £20m’ for Tottenham midfielder

Leicester City is actively bolstering their squad in preparation for their return to the Premier League after their recent promotion. Following the sale of Kieran Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea for £30 million, the club has been focusing on strengthening their midfield.

Leicester has already made several signings, including Abdul Fatawu, Michael Golding, Bobby Decordova-Reid, Caleb Okoli, and Facundo Buonanotte (the latter on loan). Now, according to David Ornstein from The Athletic, they are close to finalizing the acquisition of Oliver Skipp from Tottenham Hotspur.

Skipp is expected to undergo a medical on Sunday, with the transfer likely to be confirmed before Leicester faces Tottenham on Monday. However, due to registration deadlines, he won’t be eligible to play in that match. Leicester is set to pay a fee of at least £20 million for Skipp, who has been with Tottenham since 2008 and is one of their remaining homegrown players.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who had a diminished role at Tottenham during the 2023/24 season under Ange Postecoglou, will be reuniting with former Spurs teammate Harry Winks at Leicester. This move follows a managerial change at Leicester, with Steve Cooper taking over after Enzo Maresca’s departure to Chelsea.
