Borussia Dortmund has announced the appointment of Nuri Sahin as their new head coach, succeeding Edin Terzic. The 35-year-old Sahin, who previously served as assistant manager at the club, has signed a contract until June 2027.
A familiar face at Dortmund, Sahin made 274 appearances for the club across two spells as a player. Expressing his gratitude and enthusiasm for the role, Sahin stated, “It is a great honour for me to be the coach of Borussia Dortmund. I would like to thank everyone at the club for the trust they have placed in me.”
He added, “I am very much looking forward to my task at BVB. From day one, we will do everything we can with great energy and passion to be successful.”
The appointment comes shortly after Edin Terzic reportedly offered his resignation despite guiding Dortmund to the Champions League final. Terzic had two stints with the club, first as an interim coach at the end of the 2020-21 season and later returning as the permanent boss ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Sahin’s transition from assistant manager to head coach marks a new chapter for Borussia Dortmund, with fans eagerly anticipating his leadership as they prepare for the upcoming challenges in domestic and European competitions.
