Bill Romanowski weighed in on the controversial hit Azeez Al-Shaair delivered to Trevor Lawrence over the weekend, calling it “abso-fricken-lutely” a dirty hit but admitting that he “loved it.” The incident took place during the second quarter of the Texans-Jaguars game when Lawrence, after scrambling for a first down, attempted to slide but was hit by Al-Shaair, resulting in a headshot that caused an injury and a brawl. Al-Shaair was later suspended for three games by the NFL.
Romanowski, a former linebacker known for playing aggressively, acknowledged that it was a “bang-bang” situation and sympathized with Al-Shaair but still deemed the hit dirty. However, he encouraged Al-Shaair not to lose his aggressive playing style, advising him to just “control it a little bit better.” Romanowski believes Al-Shaair is a tone-setter for the defense and that taking away his aggression would be a mistake.
As for Romanowski’s post-football endeavors, he’s now promoting Lean1, a line of nutrition products, which he credits for helping him stay sharp even after his long NFL career.
