Netflix has unveiled the trailer for The Six Triple Eight, a powerful WWII drama led by Kerry Washington and directed by Tyler Perry. The film spotlights the extraordinary story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, the only all-Black Women’s Army Corps unit to serve overseas during the war. Tasked with organizing and delivering backlogged mail to soldiers, the women faced immense challenges, including racism, sexism, and grueling working conditions. Despite these obstacles, their mission became a testament to resilience and unity.
The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Oprah Winfrey, Susan Sarandon, Sam Waterston, and Dean Norris. Rising talents such as Ebony Obsidian, Kylie Jefferson, Sarah Jeffery, and Jeanté Godlock also contribute to the ensemble. The Six Triple Eight will feature an original song, “The Journey,” written by Diane Warren and performed by H.E.R.
Tyler Perry both wrote and directed the film, which aims to honor the unsung heroes who shattered barriers and inspired future generations. It will debut in select theaters on December 6 and stream on Netflix starting December 20.
This film promises to be a moving tribute to courage and determination during one of history’s most challenging eras.
